Our Story

cragbeam emerged from a simple observation: despite money touching every aspect of modern life, most people receive no formal education in managing it. Schools teach algebra and history, universities prepare students for careers, yet fundamental questions about budgeting, saving, and investing remain unanswered for millions.

Founded in Leicester in 2019, we set out to fill this gap with practical, accessible financial education. Our approach differs from typical financial seminars or online courses. We focus on building genuine understanding through interactive teaching, real-world exercises, and ongoing support.

What started as weekend workshops for local families has grown into a comprehensive academy serving hundreds of Leicester residents annually. Our programmes now span ages seven to seventy, from pocket money basics to retirement planning strategies.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Money conversations often carry shame and anxiety. Many adults feel embarrassed about gaps in their financial knowledge. Children absorb these attitudes, developing complicated relationships with money before they earn their first pound.

We counter this by creating judgement-free learning environments. Questions are welcomed regardless of experience level. Mistakes become teaching opportunities rather than sources of embarrassment. Participants leave our programmes not just with knowledge, but with confidence to apply it.

Leicester Focused

We deliberately maintain our Leicester focus rather than expanding nationally. This local commitment allows us to understand our community's specific needs, partner with local organisations, and build lasting relationships with families.

Our courses reference local economic conditions, employment opportunities in the East Midlands, and regional cost of living considerations. Participants learn principles applicable everywhere while understanding their immediate context.
